Weight Loss Latvia Patient Journey
Rhys (UK)
Another surgery-versary has flown by — three years since my gastric bypass in August 2020.
I’m now 15 stone lighter, and while there’s still more to lose, I’m proud of how far I’ve come.
People often ask me if I feel “better,” and the answer is always — a little.
Like many others, my morbid obesity came from many factors, most of them in my mind. Weight loss surgery didn’t just change my body — it started a lifelong journey of self-acceptance.
I still sometimes look in the mirror and struggle to like what I see. Confidence takes time. But as I reflect now, I’m grateful — grateful to be healthier, to have more energy, and to live a fuller life.
A special thank you to my family for their support, and to Ilva Urbanoviča and Weight Loss Latvia for ensuring my life is longer and more interesting than it used to be.
If you’re struggling — ask for help. Don’t let fear or pride hold you back. I waited too long to make a change, and it cost me years I’ll never get back.
Here’s to progress, health, and self-compassion — and to another year of living better. 💚
